I've worked and payed taxes for nearly 50+ years and I have some of my own opinions that I would like to share on this page.
If I were to run things my way then here are a few thoughts I would have.
I think our entire system is broken and unsustainable. A good part of our country folks live in anguish. I don't think that it makes sense for us to live like this on the only planet in the universe that has human life on it. It's crazy what is going on here on earth. Does anyone but me realize that we as humans have actually altered a entire planets climate. The only human life sustaining planet in the entire universe that we know of.
That is insane.
I would make work weeks down from 40 hours per week to at first 37 hours and later 35 hours per week with eventual goal of 32 hours per week for full time. I would make retirement age now 67 for full retirement down to 65 years of age then later to 62 years old and eventually to 58 years old or younger. Early retirement then to 55 years old. Your probably thinking that I'm crazy and you wish that could happen. Actually I realize that but I will explain in the next paragraph in more detail.
Workers in our country are totally burned out by middle age. Underpaid and overworked. This also leads to high medical issues and disabilities. There is not enough good paying positions and jobs for everyone to hold onto under our present system. Those who can work are taxed and forced to carry huge load of burdens under our present systems. It's totally counter productive and self defeating.
Cutting the work week full time hours down will force employers to hire more individuals to get the same amount of work done. When you take 4 employees to 32 hrs a week now you can hire a new employee to 32 hrs a week and you have 5 employees. Each employee pays all the FICA disbursements so now you have 5 times that percentage toward social security and medical. It will give more time off to those working and they all pay in. Increasing wages will come as the demand for products and services increase. What does the working class do in their time off, "Spend Money". Lot's of money to be exact. So now you have more folks working and spending money who know they can retire in their late 50's. They make more money and pay more supporting taxes but medical claims and disabilities drop. Due to the high demands of more consumers spending more in their now free time off employers have to hire more employees to keep up with demand. Consumers now purchase newer products and discard old aging products. There will be a very high demand to recycle.
The Federal government can increase social security tax to sustain the system but more is getting paid in and less is getting drawn out. Less in disability, medical claims. So how can that be when more workers retire earlier and draw more out. Keep in mind that workers paid SS their entire working careers. More employees now work and pay in as well. The country work forces will dramatically increase thus more paying into the system. This will grow exponentially with a continues climb upwards.
What this does is it reverses the stagnate system we now have. It opens the door to constant growth.
Dependencies on social support systems will reduce or be totally eliminated. Our present system is creating more dependencies. These changes would have huge dramatic social impacts. A lot more folks can contribute to our countries growth. More resources would be available.
We would never see another recession.
Workers will go to work refreshed and ready to go. Employers have concerns that workers will not be able to remember job duties and functions with reduced full time hours. If the structure is setup correctly and now workers are fully rested and relaxed on a 32 hour full time work week their memory will actually improve not get worse.
Productivity, creativity will increase.
I've been lucky and always been able to find work but going to higher learning has been very difficult at the same time. My employers wanted me available and most did not have programs in place to reimburse for very expensive college courses. Those who did have college reimbursement programs have very strict requirements that must be met. Some require a contract of service. Having the time to actually go and not be so pressed for time so you can actually learn something would have been a great benefit.
This is and will be a fully sustainable system. The GDP will increase across the board, ramping up rapidly. The general quality of life will dramatically increase. Families will once again be a family.
This has actually somewhat happened in our countries past during the 1950's when new technologies like television, washing machines and refrigerators first came out. We have flirted with this several times in our history but then fell back into this capitalistic way of doing things. The reason is because the long term vision was just beyond what we could grasp. The focus was totally on the bottom line and build up but not on the long term that actually goes into a manageable consistent system that is reliable.
Manufactures will actually be able to predict and maintain constant supply. This will reduce product retail cost. Higher consistent sales and supply chains reduces cost for everyone.
I think there is strong efforts to confuse communistic living with socialism. Nothing could be more wrong.
Hostilities and crimes will decrease.
Everyone on this planet has a right to all the basic needs, home, clothing, food, clean drinking water, new technologies, new car and transportation and so on.....
Only the best in products and technologies should be available to all.
This system would make that happen World Wide.
If we want a happy safe healthy world to live within then we have to create that world ourselves. We can do exactly that.
Everyone has a right to have a happy life.
