My family moved to Florida sometime late year of 1977 to the central East coast region where we joined family that had moved/retired there much earlier from the mid west same as us.
I met my bride to be soon after my family arrived in Florida who's family had also moved to this area many years earlier than I. We married couple years later and have today well over 42 years invested together in our relationship. We had one child together and raised him in Florida. My wife has always been there for me and she takes good care of me and I of her. I'm a very lucky man to have such a good wife and we have been inseparable since the day we met over four decades ago. We were very young when we met and she did not drink, smoke or cuss and her parents are the same. Well until after meeting me anyways? It's not all my fault but maybe most of it is. Maybe, just maybe? They all still don't drink, smoke or do drugs, even after all these years......
I started working early in life at around age 12 with part time and summer jobs while I was in school. I delivered news papers for afternoon and morning runs. We would get up around 1:am in the morning and finish around 4:am or 5:am depending on the weather and road conditions and that was the driving route. My afternoon runs where a bicycle run at a nearby subdivision that took around 1-2 hours all depending on the weather. The Sunday route runs took the most time. During the K12 summer breaks from school we would all load up in our station wagon with wood panel sides and head to the apple orchards nearby to pick fruit for several hours. That generally yielded us a couple gallons of cider and some cash to use for summer fun like going to the local pool or parks and food. Me and my brothers learned at a early age that living included hard work.
Sunday's were always dedicated to church. We went to bible study, sang in the choir and helped with events and services. That day was also for cub scouts and later boy scouts. We would also squeeze in team sports so our weeks remained somewhat busy.
Later I added working on a local nearby farm/ranch and that was better pay at around $2.25 per hour. Plowing and disk plowing the fields, planting trees, cleaning the chicken coop, bailing hay and a lot more duties. The owners were great and they would feed us before we started and sometimes when we finished for the day. We had a lot of fun while learning to farm and run heavy equipment.
I started my own bike cycle repair shop and that did OK for a while. We lived out in the country and several of my school friends depended on me to keep their bikes working and repaired.
We moved to Florida 1977 when I was 16 years old and that came at me totally unexpected. Everything changed after that. You never know what direction life will take you sometimes but I was forced to go. The majority of my life has now been spent in Florida.
Soon I will add some information on the personal projects (side jobs) I have completed. I also like to write in my spare time as a hobby. I have a book I have written that I will soon publish. I will link it here on this site when done. I will write books when I fully retire.
I've added a small photo gallery below
